LEARN ABOUT SOHO GUITAR

WHAT WE DO

At Soho Guitar, we can customize the guitar from the pawnshop, add new paint and electronics to your favorite axe, fulfill your unique vision from the ground up, replace worn out nuts or frets, or repair damage sustained from normal wear-and-tear or catastrophe.

• Custom Guitar Design

• Repairs

• Refurbishing

We understand what a guitar means to you, because we’ve been there. Soho Guitar is owned by Rob Meigel, who has built and refurbished guitars since he was a teenager. Back then, he began taking parts from one guitar and putting them on another until he had one he could play. When his friends found out, they wanted him to “Frankenstein” a guitar for them, too.

Guitars are personal. We get that. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned vet, everything you feel, everything you want to express, you channel through your instrument. At Soho Guitar, you provide the path, we’ll make sure it's unobstructed.

"I’ve been repairing guitars for as long as I can remember… It seemed that every guitar I could get my hands on was broken.” ~ Rob Meigel

"I’m doing what I love and so far it never feels like work.” ~ Rob Meigel

MEET ROB

Although Rob spent most of his working life in the metal fabrication and carpentry trades, he always maintained his passion for building and repairing guitars. After moving to Tampa, Rob became curator and broker for several prominent local guitar collectors, and rapidly became known as the go-to fix-it guy within the musical community. It only seemed logical to take it to the next level and open the doors of Soho Guitar.

DON MIGGS,

FRONT MAN, MIGGS

“I have 100 guitars, mostly vintage and most finicky. Living in Tampa I haven't had many strong options for great guitar work until Rob and Soho Guitar. Rob treats each guitar like its his own. He learns every nook and cranny and can do anything from restoration to general service and maintenance.

I have one guitar in the shop each day and know I'm getting the best attention in Tampa for my collection and you can rest assured that the guitar leaves his shop in the best shape you've ever seen it.”

PETER KLETT,

LEAD GUITARIST, CANDLEBOX

“I have to say, when I moved to Tampa from Seattle, I was concerned about where I would have my guitars worked on. I have no worries at all now. Rob Meigel at Soho Guitar  has filled that void beyond my expectations.”

MICHAEL LOMBARDO,

BASS PLAYER, MIGGS

"My bass and guitars never felt so easy to play.  I can't ever go on tour comfortably without bringing my bass in to Rob. His ability to restore my bass to the action I like is unparalleled. Whether it's just a quick set up, or a more refined modification, Rob is your guy.”
